Curious case of Lord Ganesha
I have always wondered why Lord Ganesha is considered a symbol of new beginnings.
Right from my school days, whenever I started something new whether it was writing an exam, doing homework, or even just beginning to write anything—the first thing I would do was draw a small symbol with my pencil or pen, known as Pillaiyar Suzhi.
I used to think I was the only one who picked up this habit subconsciously. But no, even my friends did it, and I’ve seen many adults do it too.
Story Time
Ganesha and his brother Kartikeya were once challenged to race around the world.
Kartikeya sped off on his peacock, determined to win. But Ganesha calmly circled his parents, Shiva and Parvati, saying:
“You are my world.”
This act pleased the gods immensely and revealed Ganesha’s deep wisdom. He “won” by showing that true beginnings start at home with devotion and humility.

A Visit to the Temple
Today, I visited a nearby temple to celebrate Vinayagar Chaturthi, and to my surprise, it wasn’t as crowded as I expected. Usually, the temple would be bustling, filled with the sound of Mangala Vaathiyam (auspicious music), and the atmosphere would be nothing short of divine.
Maybe now, people prefer having Lord Ganesha on the dashboards of their cars and seek celebrations where there’s more entertainment and fun.
Celebration Like No Other
But then I saw where the celebration truly came alive this year one city stood out, celebrating Lord Ganesha like no other. The entire city participated, adorned with vibrant colors, joyous crowds, and massive, intricately crafted statues.
The city is none other than Mumbai.
The whole city was celebrating the birthday of Lord Ganesha with full spirit. The community came alive it was energetic, vibrant, and heartwarming to witness. Even though I saw it only through YouTube, it was an absolute visual treat.
A New Beginning
Today, I wanted to start something new. And here I am. I’ve launched my personal website and published my very first blog.
With the blessings of Lord Ganesha, may there be peace and happiness on this beautiful planet called Earth.
Let this be a good launch for me, paving the way to read more, write more, and share more with all of you.
